Hyundai will launch its new Verna by the middle of next year and with that it aims to claw back market share in the midsize sedan space. The sedan segment which saw a massive hit in sales due to the compact SUVs or even premium hatchbacks, is seeing a revival with Skoda also launching its new Rapid plus Honda would be readying its City facelift for next year. This new generation Verna just like the Elantra is another good looking design following the 2.0 Fluidic Sculpture design language. It looks much better now and is a huge leap in terms of overall quality and features too. A crucial change is also the rear seat as the current Verna is too cramped and actually has less space than the Elite i20!
The new Verna cures that and has more room at the back. As expected Hyundai will fill the Verna will new features with the intention of being class best here. So expect a big feature list. In terms of engine line-up though expect the usual 1.4/1.6 diesel petrol but the interesting news is that the 1.6 diesel will have a mild hybrid system like the Maruti Ciaz. Which means the new Verna is expected to have class best efficiency and this tech might be standard like the Ciaz. Overall the new Verna looks impressive inside out and looks all set to give its rivals a hard time, come June 2017.
