German luxury and sportscar manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has just launched a face-lifted version of the least expensive sedan in their model fleet, the CLA-Class, in India. Prices for this car range from INR 31.40 lakhs to INR 34.68 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
A lot of the changes seen in this new vehicle seem to have been lifted from the new A-Class hatchback, and that is because they are. The CLA is based on the A-Class and it gets new details such as new LED headlight clusters with integrated LED daytime running lamps, redesigned LED tail lamp clusters and a remodelled front bumper. In terms of power, no alterations are expected and the new CLA will continue to provide its prospective buyers with the option of choosing between a 2.0 litre, 183 bhp petrol engine and a 2.1 litre, turbocharged, 136 bhp diesel motor. Irrespective of the engine choice, you will get a 7 speed, double clutch, automatic gearbox.
Step inside and subtle new details and features greet you. There is a new, free standing 8 inch COMAND infotainment display screen, support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a thick flat-bottomed multifunction steering wheel, new switchgear, chrome accents, matte black ash wood and honeycomb aluminium trims, and a revised instrument binnacle. Customers will also get new interior colour schemes to select from. The rest of the interior is built from the same, well built materials. With this update, the CLA has been given a fresh lease of life to take on its rivals.
Although Mercedes-Benz had planned to launch 12 new cars this year, Roland Folger, in a very cryptic manner, mentioned that they will be launching one more product before the end of 2016. Now we wait!
