Most luxury car manufacturers in India have their own in-house tuning divisions, so far with the exception of Volvo. However, later this year, the Swedish car maker will enter the Polestar brand in India and bring a new performance model with it, the S60 Polestar.
We do not have confirmed details of the powertrain that the S60 Polestar will use but, it could be the new 2.0 litre, 4 cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that puts out 367 hp and a peak torque figure of 470 Nm. We are quite sure that it will be kitted out with an 8 speed automatic transmission, all wheel drive and stiffened suspension for sportier handling.
Additionally, thanks to a 15kg weight reduction and improved weight distribution (Polestar reduced the weight on the front axle), the S60 Polestar can sprint to 100 kph from a standstill in 4.7 seconds and its top speed had to be electronically limited to 250 kph. Volvo is clearly being aggressive in their strategy for India. The company launched the new XC90 last year followed by the all new S90 sedan. Volvo even launched the XC90 is in ultra special Excellence trim level as well, which provides superlative luxury to its buyers.
