In the world of sportscars, German manufacturer Porsche has always had a hallowed niche to themselves; and not for no reason. Over the decades, Porsche has turned out some of the best performing machines that money could buy and in the next two months, they are set to bring 3 new vehicles to the Indian automotive space.
In February, Porsche will launch the 718 Cayman and the 718 Boxster. Both these cars will have 2.0 litre, 4 cylinder petrol engines that produce a shade under 300 bhp. The 718 siblings also share the same transmission option, which is a 7 speed, twin clutch, PDK automatic unit. Despite the tiny engine, both these cars can finish the 0-100 kph dash in a remarkable 4.7 seconds and both have identical top speed figures as well. These cars have also had work done on their suspension to make the handling more agile. Also, since the engines are now smaller, they fall into a lower duty bracket and therefore, the Boxster and Cayman will be more affordable than before as well.
A month later in March 2017, Porsche showrooms across India will have the all new Panamera as well. Information says that, at the outset, Porsche will put the Panamera on sale in its Turbo trim level only but it will be available in its standard length and as a long wheelbase version. Under its long bonnet will be a 4.0 litre V8 engine that is twin turbocharged to belt out 550 hp and an astronomical torque figure of 770Nm. During the course of 2017, the manufacturer will introduce more variants of the Panamera equipped with smaller petrol and diesel engines as well.
