Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, has launched the diesel variant of the hugely successful Audi A4 today. Prices for the car start at INR 40.20 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) onwards and bookings are now open across all Audi India dealerships.
Under its bonnet lives a 2.0 litre, 4 cylinder, turbocharged diesel motor that sends 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque to the front wheels; enough to dispatch the 0-100 kph dash in 7.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 237 kph. The engine uses newly developed combustion methods and, thanks to a 120 kilo weight loss (achieved by using new materials in the construction of the car), the efficiency of the A4 has gone up by 7% to 18.25 kpl (ARAI-certified). Power is harnessed by a 7 speed, S-Tronic automatic gearbox.
Inside, the A4 cossets its occupants with features such as the Audi Virtual Cockpit, 3-zone automatic climate control, MMI Navigation plus with MMI touch and an 8.3 inch screen, Qi wireless phone charging, a 180 watt sound system with 10 speakers, voice control, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, and more. You also get 4 driving modes, dynamic turn indicators and 17 inch alloy rims. On the safety front, the car has a reversing camera, ABS with EBD and 8 airbags located throughout the passenger cabin. With the addition of the diesel engine, the A4 continues to be one of the best cars money can buy in its segment.
