As Toyota Motor Corporation announces its achievement of selling more than 10.05 million hybrid vehicles globally, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced the launch of two of its hybrid models: the new Camry Hybrid and the latest version of one of the most well-known hybrid cars, the Toyota Prius.
The 2.5 litre petrol engine coupled with an electric motor produces a total system output of 202 bhp. The hybrid technology used in this car helps to reduce its fuel consumption and offers a mileage of 19.16 kpl. You get a whole host of features in this sedan as well, such as LED headlights, reverse-linked wing mirrors with memory, reclining rear seats, a navigation module, wireless smartphone charging (for compatible phones) and a JBL audio system with 12 speakers. The car has been priced at INR 31.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and it receives a markdown of INR 70,000 under the FAME (Faster Adoption & Manufacturing of Electric cars) scheme.
The new Prius is the first vehicle to be built on the Toyota New Generation Architecture (TNGA). The TNGA platform means low-stance designs, giving the cars a lower centre of gravity than before, which in turn results in better suspension, stability and handling. Its 1.8 litre petrol engine, together with its electric motor, returns an efficiency figure of 26.27 kpl. also, Toyota will sell the new Prius in its Z8 trim level only. If you desire to put one of these on your driveway, it will set you back by INR 38.96 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
