After the recent launch of new Honda City, now we have been confirmed that Honda has already received more than 10K booking for the new City across India. As per the booking status, it the top variant of City which is highest in demand because of the premium features such as LED DRLs and electric sunroof it offers. The new City has been launched with a starting price of INR 8.67lakhs while the top variant is priced at INR 13.80lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).
The new City has become even more expensive than before making it one of the costliest cars in its class but its strong brand following is the reason behind its demand. The car is technically unchanged from the previous version and it———s only the addition of few features along with some styling changes which have increased the prices of this car. Yes, it looks more attractive than before and comes with same set of powerful and fuel efficient engines which adds value to this popular sedan. The car comes with two 1.5L engines; one engine each of petrol and diesel which are capable of producing a peak power of 117bhp and 99bhp respectively. The petrol engine comes with a choice of CVT transmission as well while the diesel comes standard with a 6-speed gearbox only.
The City is a direct rival of Ciaz which though has been selling more than City in the past months because of its competitive pricing but it will be interesting to see if the demand of City continues to grow same as now then there could be some difference in the results. It could be too early to say something so better we wait for the coming months and the sales results will say it all.
