At the Geneva Motor Show, two small cars have made their debuts which hold great importance for India. We are talking about the new Suzuki Swift and the Kia Picanto. Both would be coming to India and the Geneva Show gave us a chance to have a closer look at these cars. The new Swift is Up to 10 per cent lighter, 19 per cent more powerful and 8 per cent more fuel efficient than outgoing model.
It is 3,840mm length means it is compact but despite being 10mm shorter than the outgoing model, its wheelbase is 20mm longer, space is now better. Styling wise too it looks much more aggressive now with blacked-out A-pillars and a more aggressive grille. The interiors are new as well with more features. For India we can expect the same 1.2 petrol and the new diesel that will be coming with the Dzire (we will get the Dzire first then Swift hatch).
While the Swift is coming later this year the new Kia Picanto would be coming much later in 2019 but here is a preview and we have been impressed. This is the new gen Picanto which is the third-generation. The length remains the same but the wheelbase is now longer plus styling wise we love the aggressive design with LED DRLs and the tiger-nose grille, as Kia puts it. Inside, quality is very good and interiors have a large touchscreen too. It is too early to say regarding the engine and specs, but no doubt this would be the first launch from Kia in India.
