Maruti has revealed the third generation of Dzire which has now been positioned as a more premium compact sedan in our market. The new Dzire drops out Swift from its name and promises to be the best Dzire till date. What all is new in this car and how is it different from the previous generation is what this article is all about.
Styling and dimensions
The new Dzire is built on a complete new ———Heartect——— platform which also underpins the new Swift and is lighter and stiffer than the previous platform of Swift Dzire. The new platform also makes the new Dzire around 100kg lighter than before and should result in more sporty performance. The new Dzire gets its styling cues from the new gen Swift and surely looks better than before. The front grille is surely the biggest attraction in this car surrounded by chrome border while there is lot of chrome treatment in the front bumper as well around fog lamp housing which resembles to the current Swift Dzire.
The new Dzire comes with automatic projector headlamp with LED DRL which looks distinctive from the new gen Swift and suits the styling of new car. Side-wise, the new Dzire looks more proportionate thanks to its slightly longer boot which now gives it a better look than before and the dual tone alloy wheels clearly set it apart from the old Dzire. The rear profile is quite simple and has a wide chrome bar joining the tail lamps which certain gives this car a fresh look.
Overall, the new Dzire measures exact the same as old Dzire in terms of length and stands at 3995mm while the new Dzire is 40mm wider than the old Dzire which stands at 1695mm. The height of new Dzire is 1515mm with a low ground clearance of 163mm which is 7mm less than before. The base variants will ride on 14-inch wheels same as before while the top variants gets new styled 15-inch dual tone alloy wheels. The wheelbase of new Dzire stands at 2450mm which is 20mm longer than before which has also resulted in a larger boot capacity of 380L which is 60L more than the previous Dzire.
Interiors and Features
The new Dzire gets complete new dual tone interiors with beige and black color theme. The flat bottom steering wheel with twin circular instrument dials looks similar to the new gen Swift. The dashboard design is also completely new bringing fresh and up-market feel to this car. The quality of buttons and switches have also improved significantly with addition of new premium features such as touchscreen infotainment system with apple car play and rear A.C vent while other features remains same as before which includes push button start, automatic climate control, rear parking sensors and camera, Bluetooth connectivity with steering mounted controls, auto folding ORVMs etc. Unlike the previous Dzire where Dual airbags and ABS were standard only in top variant, the new car comes standard with these safety features.
Engine and Transmission
The new Dzire retains its engine line-up which includes a 1.2L, K-series, 83bhp petrol engine which has an utmost torque output of 115Nm while the diesel unit is the same 1.3L, Multijet 74bhp diesel engine which has a torque output of 190Nm. The new Dzire will come with a choice of 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission for both engines along with 5-speed manual transmission. Only the base variants will miss the AMT gearbox while earlier it was only available in the top variant with diesel engine. The new Dzire is expected to be more fuel efficient than before thanks to its light weight platform.
Variants and Price
We expect an increase of around INR 50-60K per variant in the new Dzire when compared to the previous generation which should still keep it quite competitive in its segment. The new Dzire will be available in four variants namely LXI, VXI, ZXI, ZXI+ and LDI, VDI, ZDI and ZDI+ with petrol and diesel engines respectively. Surely the new Dzire is better than previous generation almost in all aspects and raise in its price already seems quite justifying. The new Dzire will be launched on 16th May and that is when we will be revealed more details about this new car which should clarify if it will remain the king of its segment or will there be any change.
