Renault has launched its Duster petrol CVT variant. Available in RXS trim, the Duster Petrol AT is priced at Rs 10.3 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. Unlike the diesel which has an AMT, the Duster 1.5 petrol gets a CVT gearbox. The CVT autobox will give a smoother driving experience compared to the AMT and will be more efficient as well. The official mileage of the CVT petrol 1.5 is 14.99 kmpl.
That is not the only new part as the earlier 1.6 petrol has been removed from the Duster range bringing in a new 1.5 unit. The 1.5 petrol develops 104 bhp and 142Nm. Other than the VT there is also a 6-speed manual standard and in the manual version the mileage is 14.19 kmpl. In terms of features the Duster RXL and RXS CVT come with steering mounted audio and phone controls. The RXL MT and the RXS CVT also get an Eco Mode, electronically adjustable ORVMs while the RXS CVT gets an integrated 7 inch touch screen.
The petrol 1.5 Duster is available only in 4x2 while the 4x4 manual is available with the diesel only. Prices for the base RXE MT petrol is Rs 8.4 lakh starting. The diesel is Rs 10.3 lakh. Renault is not offering the petrol in the top-end RXZ trim where you can only buye the diesel. However with the price, the Duster CVT petrol now does make good value as it is cheaper than direct rivals and actually competes with smaller compact SUVs at this price! Thus no doubt the petrol Duster with the CVT will make this SUV a lot more popular now.
