New VW Polo 2017 Expected India launch

By   |   08 May,2017

What you see here are the first teasers from Volkswagen of the new gen Volkswagen Polo due to be revealed later this year. The big talking point is that the new gen Polo now has the new MQB A0 small-car platform that will be used for all the VW groups small cars and SUVs. The new Polo is expected to be launched in hatch avatar late next year and might just make its India debut at the 2018 Auto Expo. The new gen Polo is bigger, better and has more technology as this new platform brings in. Design wise it is evolution rather than revolution but it looks more premium and bigger with more design details.

Dimension wise there will be small changes but crucially there is an increase in wheelbase and that removes the one area where the current Polo lacks-rear seat space. The boot will be bigger as well. The new Polo then takes a more mature Golf like look. Inside too you will see massive changes with a new look dash and obviously a touchscreen system, a full digital display and a lot more features. Engine wise there would be a 1.0 TSI engine, 1.5 TSI and a 1.6 diesel with the usual DSG and manual gearboxes. For India we might expect the 1.2 petrol and 1.5 diesel looking at from a cost angle. However the Polo still has a fan-following in India and the new gen Polo certainly looks like to be accepted well in our premium hatch loving car market.
