Isuzu will launch its MU-X SUV tomorrow and here is what you can expect from it. This will replace the ageing MU-7 in India and you can say it is the SUV version of the much popular D-MAX V-Cross pick-up. The MU-X will compete with the likes of the new Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport but we hear it will be priced much lower in-fact the starting price would under-cut its rivals massively thus expect a sub Rs 25 lakh price point for the only fully loaded variant.
The MU-X for India will have a 3.0 diesel with 174 bhp and 380Nm. Standard would be a 5-speed sequential shift AT and the official mileage is pegged at 13.8 kmpl. Yes, no manual. The interiors are like the V-Cross in design but are more premium. This 7-seater comes with features like leather seats, powered drivers seat, climate control, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with DVD player also, 8 speaker audio system, roof mounted 10 inch DVD entertainment monitor, LED DRLs, rear camera, push button start/stop, Hill-start assist, dual airbags etc.
Being an Isuzu, off-road capability is very much there and it has 4x4 with shift on the fly 4x4 select dial. The MU-X at its expected price will open up a new segment priced between the Hexa/XUV500 and the Fortuner and that will be its trump card.
