  16 May,2017

Leaving the Swift name behind, all new Dzire is launched today in our market. This is the third gen Dzire which makes its global debut today and if you have been waiting for this car eagerly then this article is for you as we list out all important things which you must know about the new Dzire.

New Platform

The new Dzire is based on the new Heartec platform sharing its underpinnings with the Baleno and the up-coming Swift. The new Dzire weighs only 990kg despite being bigger in size than ever before.

The new Dzire stays less than 4 meter in length and stands at 3995mm but it has become wider than before. It becomes the widest car in its segment with a width 1735mm. The top variant will ride on 15-inch wheels. The wheelbase of new Dzire is 2450mm which results into more leg-room and larger boot capacity of 376L.

The new Dzire gets its styling cues from the upcoming Swift but it is clearly differentiated thanks to its different styling. The front styling has lot of chrome as per the taste of Indians with a bigger grill and new bumper. The projector headlamps with LED DRL also add to its looks while the boot now finally looks proportionate. The integration of boot seems well thought and completes the 3 box look of Dzire.

The new Dzire shares its flat bottom steering wheel with the new Swift and gets complete new beige and black colored dual tone interiors with faux wood styling. The instrument dials are also similar to the new Swift while few buttons have been carried forward.

The new Dzire gets auto-climate control with rear A.C vent, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs with integrated side indicators, push button start, alloy wheels, smartplay infotainment system with steering mounted controls, projector headlamps with LED DRL, rear parking sensors and camera. Also, for the first time, Dzire will come standard with ABS and Dual front airbags making it great value for money.

Engine and Gearbox

The new Dzire retains its old set of engines which have proved to be one its biggest USPs as they have always been quite fuel efficient and enthusiastic to drive and with the lighter platform, the performance should be even better. The Dzire will have its 1.2L, K-series petrol engine which has a power and torque output of 83bhp and 113Nm respectively. The diesel engine is the 1.3L, Multijet, 74bhp unit with 190Nm of torque. Both engines come standard with 5-speed manual gearbox while there is also a choice of 5-speed AMT gearbox.

The new Dzire becomes the most fuel efficient car in the country with its diesel engine and now comes with an ARAI mileage of 28.4km/ltr while the petrol unit has a fuel efficiency of 22km/ltr.
