Tata Motors already has success with its Tiago and Tigor but its most awaited product would be the Nexon. Shown at the 2016 Auto Expo first then recently being shown at the Geneva Motor Show, the Nexon no doubt would be the most important launch for the car-maker. The Nexon compact SUV is ready for a launch later this year and here is what you need to know. Styling wise the Nexon looks quite bold and aggressive. It is a compact SUV with a length of 3995mm but the details are the things that stand out. Featuring the impact design language, the Nexon has the Humanity line but you also have nicely designed projector headlamps with LED DRLs, The floating roof looks unique while the all LED tail-lamps are superbly integrated.
The sloping roof looks fantastic too plus its got the usual SUV design touches like roof rails, cladding etc. The muscular wheel arches are a perfectly aligned to the big 17 inch wheels as well. Standard models will have 16 inch ones. Inside, quality wise, again Tata Motors have made a giant leap with the Nexon. Fit and finish is really good and we like the design. You have a Harman infotainment system with a dash-top touchscreen and separate controls below. It will be richly equipped as well with a rear view camera, parking sensors, rear ac vents, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, climate control etc. Despite the sloping roof, space would be good and so would be the luggage space.
In terms of engine options expect a 1.5 diesel with three driving modes along with a 6-speed manual gearbox. In petrol there would be a 1.2 turbo one like in the Zest and Bolt. Expect an AMT too. Expect really aggressive pricing too, below rivals, at a Rs 6 lakh starting price or even below for a base petrol manual. Overall the Nexon looks brilliant and has everything to be a success.
