BMW has launched its much awaited new 5 Series sedan with a starting price of Rs 49.9 lakh while the top-end 530d Msport is Rs 61.3 lakh. There are three engine options including a 2.0 diesel in the 520d, a 3.0 diesel for the 530d and a 2.0 petrol, albeit in a more powerful avatar in the 530i. There are three trim levels also with an 8-speed automatic as standard.
The new 5 is longer, wider and has a longer wheelbase for more room. As you might guess it is crammed with a lot of features like LED headlights, electrically adjustable front seats, high-resolution 10.25-inch screen with iDrive Controller, gesture controls, remote control parking, display key, voice command, Head-Up Display, climate control, Ambient Air package, ambient lighting, rear seat entertainment etc.
There is a ton of tech and safety systems as you also expect at this price. Styling wise it is more elegant looking being much bigger than the current one though it is sleeker and more like a shrunken 7 Series. The 5 Series is the best selling car for BMW in India with over 19,000 sold till now and we expect the new 5 Series to be the same considering it borrows a lot from the bigger 7 and is great value.
