Jeep is all set to launch its much awaited Compass SUV tomorrow at an event in Mumbai. The event will mark Jeep announcing its prices for the Compass. Deliveries we hear will not start immediately and will start during the festive season. The Compass is by far the biggest launch of this year and the most awaited. It would be the most affordable Jeep and let us remind you that the Compass had notched up 1000 bookings in three days. You can book the Compass online or at any one of the dealerships with an amount of Rs 50,000. Bookings have soared since then and most of them are for the top-end diesel.
The Compass will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Tucson with a length of 4,398mm. There are two engine options- a 160 bhp, 250 Nm Multi-air petrol and the 170 bhp, 350 Nm, diesel. However again Jeep will offer the diesel only at the moment with the petrol coming in later. The Compass will also have a 6-speed manual as standard. The petrol will come with a 7-speed DCT gearbox plus Jeep will also bring in a diesel automatic in early next year. You will five variants and five trims with good equipment levels including a 7 inch touchscreen with all features you would expect (6 airbags, rear view camera Apple Car Play, Android Auto, electronic handbrake etc). The 4wd model has the Select Terrain system with different modes.
Pricing as always is the key and having learnt its lesson earlier, Jeep is looking for an aggressive starting price ranging from Rs 17-18 lakh for the base 2wd manual diesel. The top-end is expected to be priced at Rs 25 lakh.
