Ford will launch its EcoSport facelift by November this year. The EcoSport facelift is touted as the most important car for Ford India and it is the biggest update till now given to this compact SUV. The EcoSport facelift, as you know, will sport extensive changes inside out but its engine line-up will be mostly untouched which is no bad thing as the 1.5 petrol and 1.0 turbo petrol both are impressive as is the 1.5 diesel.
There could be minor tweaks like more efficiency but again nothing confirmed. What we can say is that the facelift toughens up the styling of the car considerably. There is a new front-end with a bigger grille, new projector headlamps, new foglamps and bumper. Changes are less in terms of the side view and rear but the rear styling will have updated tail-lamps and a mild change to the rear bumper. Oh there would be new alloys too.
Inside you have bigger changes with a touchscreen finally coming in with the SYNC3 system with both Android Auto, Apple CarPlay. The mass of buttons on the current one are done away with and this new look, certainly cleans up the clutter and looks attractive. There are new instruments as well. In terms of features we can expect rear view camera, navigation, push button start/stop, sunroof etc. Overall the EcoSport will eradicate all its current weaknesses and we expect Ford to price it aggressively too, to take on the likes of the Vitara Brezza and the upcoming Nexon. The compact SUV battle is all set to get even fiercer.
