After the GST kicking in, July has brought in mammoth numbers for all SUVs signalling our huge appetite for them. Ford sold more than a 1000 Endeavours- one of its best monthly sales while Toyota sold more than 3,000 Fortuners and more than 9,000 Innova's which is also a huge jump.
Hyundai also sold more than 10,000 Creta's and Maruti has seen huge growth with the Vitara Brezza selling more than 15,000 and putting in the top 5. Along with that even the Tata hexa has had a huge sales increase selling triple the no of cars sold in June at more than 1500 units. However it seems the GST cheer would be shortlived as again prices of cars could be increased based on more cess added and that will play spoilsport! Thus while carmakers are enjoying a healthy sales increases in back of GST, this will be a big dampner. However one thing is for sure than the SUV is taking over other body styles not just in India but also rest of the world.
