Tata Nexon- All you need to know in one place

Tata has finally launched their much awaited sub four meter SUV, Nexon in India. The compact SUV has high hopes and could possibly become a game changer for Tata in our market. Many of you would be interested to have Nexon in their garage and for all those we have come up with this article stating all you need to know about the new Tata Nexon.

Styling and Dimensions

This is undoubtedly the biggest USP of this compact SUV as it looks completely fresh and does not resemble to any other product. The wide and low stance of this compact SUV makes it look extremely stylish. The front end has a big front grille with projector lamps on each end. The front big air-dam and high bonnet adds that masculine look to this compact SUV. The side profile includes high ground clearance, sharp body lines and chunky 16-inch alloy wheels enhancing the sporty character of it. The rear profile has the combination of coupe like sloping roof, LED tail lamps, slanted windshield and big rear bumper which completes the overall low stance aggressive look of Nexon.

The Nexon measures 3994mm in length and has a width of 1811mm with a height of 1607mm. The Nexon has the class highest ground clearance of 209mm with a wheelbase of 2498mm. The Nexon rides on 16-inch wheels and has a boot capacity of 350L.


Engine and Gearbox

The Nexon debuts with a choice of two engines; one engine each of petrol and diesel. The petrol unit is a 1.2L Turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine which has a maximum power and torque output of 110bhp@5000rpm and 170Nm respectively. The diesel engine is a brand new 4-cylinder, 1.5L diesel unit which is capable of churning out a peak power output of 110bhp@3750rppm while the torque output of 260Nm ranges between 1500-2750rpm. Both engines come mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox and there is no choice of an automatic gearbox however later, Tata is expected to launch the AMT version also later. Official mileage figures for both petrol and diesel manual is 17 kmpl and 21.5 kmpl.


Interiors

The Nexon is a breath of fresh air from inside. The built quality is good enough to take on its rivals and it is spacious as well to comfortably accommodate 4 adults. The front seats are quite spacious and all passengers have good amount of leg and shoulder room. The talking point is the dash-top 6.5-inch display HD touchscreen. Then there is the Harman infotainment system. There are 8 speakers, Android Auto and Apple Car Play (to be offered soon). So at present the Nexon will have Android Auto with calling, messaging, navigation and voice assistance from the infotainment system.


Variants and Features

The Nexon will come in four variants starting from XE which will few features as standard such as LED tail lamps, fabric seats, umbrella holder in front doors, adjustable steering, front dual airbags, ABS with EBD, front power windows, Multi drive modes. The XM variant in addition to XE will have dual tone wheel covers, shark fin antenna, Harman audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted controls, rear parking sensors, central locking, electrically adjustable wing mirrors and all power windows. Next is XT variant which further gets roof rails, body colored door handles and wing mirrors, automatic climate control with rear a.c vents, electric folding wing mirrors, rear power outlet and cooled and illuminated glovebox.

The XZ+ is the top variant which comes packed with all premium features such as dual tone roof, alloy wheels, 6.5inch touchscreen infotainment system with steering mounted control, navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity, front and rear centre armrest, rear parking camera, height adjustable driver seat, front and rear fog lamps, rear wiper and de-fogger and exclusive smart key (wear it as a wrist band) with push button start/stop system.


Price

The Nexon starts from INR 5.85 lakh and goes till INR 8.6 lakh ( Ex-showroom, Delhi) for the petrol. The diesel base variant is priced at INR 6.85 lakh while the top-end would be Rs 9.45 lakh. That is aggressive pricing which is lower than rivals which means the Nexon is a fantastic deal and great value.
