Ford will be launching its EcoSport facelift next month and here is what you can expect from this much anticipated new compact SUV. First of all quite a lot has changed and while dimension wise it is still the same the new front end lends a more aggressive look and makes it look bigger than it actually is. There is a new grille, new front bumper, new headlamps, new alloys and more. The side and rear more or less stay the same expect for minor updates. For India the spare wheel mounted at the back stays.
Under the hood, things change too with a new line-up of petrol engines. The EcoSport will have a new 3 cylinder 1.5l petrol with 123 hp and 150Nm. It is lighter and 7 percent more fuel efficient over the earlier 1.5l 4-cylinder. Ford has also worked on the NVH plus with high localisation, this is a crucial move and this new engine family will power future Ford India cars too. the 1.0 turbo petrol and 1.5 diesel are expected to stay the same and the automatic option will come with the new 1.5l engine.
In terms of interiors it is completely new with a new dash with a touchscreen (finally!). There is a new instrument cluster and steering wheel. There are also more features including SYNC 3 (Android Auto, Apple CarPlay), navigation, cruise control, push button start/stop and even a sunroof. No official confirmation has been done on the features but it will be one of the best equipped in its class. With the new engine, looks and features, we expect the EcoSport to regain the market share and give stiff competition to the Brezza and Nexon amongst others.
