Aston Martin DB9 Volante, the convertible version of the Coupe style sports grand tourer from the UK automaker, is one of the fine pieces of craftsmanship to display the engineering and designing abilities of the company. With 2+2 seats has a roof made of fabric which automatically folds back to let the breeze cheer the cabin to the fullest. The elegance and the richness of DB9 Coupe are carried into the Volante with the same powerful drive and sophistication hidden under the skin of the automobile.

With all the features loaded and having a variety of options when it comes to interior trims the Aston Martin DB9 Volante comes out as a lavishly built open-top wagon which makes every moment of a drive delightful.

Powertrain & Performance

Aston Martin has designed the engine of the DB9 Volante to be suitable to both sporty and relaxed type of drives. The 6.0L V12 delivers a massive 470 bhp @ 6000 rpm. The torque response which is very crucial for an automobile behaves in a manner such that at lower rpms the car feels energised while it cruises towards the top-speeds linearly. The top-speed of the car comes up to 306 km/h while it can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. Its fully catalysed stainless steel exhaust system not only reduces emission but also delivers a good audio note of the engine making the car even more adorable.

The sporty convertible displays its drive characteristics to the fullest, thanks to its Touchtronic 2 gearbox uses shift-by-wire technology and can be operated through control buttons which are available on the dashboard. The suspension system of a sports car too plays a crucial role by delivering utmost stability when the driver is testing the capabilities of the car. The independent aluminium double wishbone suspension of the front and rear wheels are engineered to behave in their own ways. While the front wheel suspension is built with anti-dive geometry, the rear wheels use anti-lift and anti-squat geometry deliver better comfort. The fabric top has range of colour options to suit the taste of the customers.

Build & Styling

Aston Martin cars always spread an aura of elegance through their unmatchable design traits brained by the engineers and sculpted by the automobile craftsmen in house. The front of the car stands muscular with large wheel arches supporting a stylish V shaped bonnet. The five grille design distinguishes Aston Martin from all other sports convertibles while the sloping back windscreen shows off its sporty characteristics. The door handles are designed to sit within the skin of the car while rear haunches simply display the power of the convertible. The most alluring part of the DB9 Volante is its retractable fabric roof which comes down with the push of a button to hide within the rear of the automobile.

For a convertible automobile safety becomes a crucial factor since without a top, the risk of injuries are more when a roll over takes place. There are specially designed hoops which come to position when a roll over is about to take place. Apart from this, Aston Martin is inculcated safety into the drivetrain with equipment like DSC, ABS with EBD and Traction Control. To protect the passengers from injuries there are multiple airbags positioned at different corners in the cabin.

The hand crafted interior of Aston Martin DB9 Volante fails at no inch to impress the passengers who enter the car. Built out of materials like leather and wood trims and finished using aluminium and graphite on the dashboard, the interior comes out as a rich space which induces comfort and delight to every drive. The way the controls and buttons are positioned and operate is a matter of joy for Aston Martin customers since there is no other marque which takes sophistication to the levels reached by the UK based company. Automatic temperature controlled AC, power fold mirrors, electrically adjustable seating position, Organic Electroluminescent Displays and 700 W Premium Audio System are standard equipment in the cabin. No worries about noise level exterior noise levels in the cabin since the company has used Thinsulate material to reduce exterior sound and avoid elements from entering the interior.
