Chevrolet Enjoy, from the stables of General Motors, is a blend of spacious interiors and ride comfort. The MUV is the third product from the joint venture of General Motor with its Chinese partner SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation). The Enjoy was showcased at the 11th Auto Expo held in New Delhi. The Chevrolet Enjoy exhibits a pleasant aura and is loaded with features. It has plenty of legroom and headroom. The car is nice to drive in urban traffic and especially so on highways. This MUV is also good when it comes to ride and handling. Competition for this car comes in the way of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Innova and the Renault Lodgy.

Chevrolet Enjoy is available in three variants namely LS, LT and LTZ and in both petrol and diesel fueled motor options. The MUV is rolled out in both 8-seater and 7-seater options and is made available in Velvet Red, Caviar Black, Linen Beige, Switch Blade Silver, Sanddrift Grey and Summit White colour shades.

Powertrain & Performance

The Chevrolet Enjoy provides a choice of two engines in both petrol and diesel versions. The 1.4 litre, 4 cylinder Smartech petrol engine pumps out a power of 99 bhp @ 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 131 Nm @ 4400 rpm. The 1.3 litre Smartech diesel engine churns out 74 bhp with a maximum torque of 172 Nm @ 1750 rpm. The engines are mated to 5-speed manual transmission. The suspension of the Chevrolet Enjoy consists of McPherson Struts at the front and multi link coil springs at the rear and there are passive twin-tube gas filled shock absorbers at all 4 wheels which provides for decent handling even on uneven patches. The low speed ride is particularly smooth as well.

The power steering is light and is accomplished at handling the constant twists and turns at tight corners. With disc brakes at the front and the drum brakes at the rear the car has great braking efficiency.

Build & Styling

This MUV has been specifically crafted keeping in mind the requirements and needs of the Indian customers. It is loaded with features and design elements such as the stylish fog lamps, chrome plated grille and so on adds some aesthetic appeal to the car. The integrated spoiler enhances the appearance of the tail gate. It has B and C pillars and a large windows which make the Enjoy very easy to see out of. The 6 spoke 15 inch alloy wheels look pleasing as well.

The interior is luxurious and spacious. All the three rows have comfortable seating arrangement. The interior is adorned with beige coloured upholstery that imparts sophisticated and classy looks. The dual-tone dash with chrome inserts adds a modish look to the car. Flexible seating configurations increase the utility value of the Enjoy. The instrument console is simple with a basic speedometer and fuel-cum-temperature gauge. The centre console looks good and houses the AC controls and the audio system. The AC vents on the top with three adjustable air vents help in optimal cooling inside the car. The door pockets are not deep and the pair of cup holders can hold small cans. Other features include tilt adjustable steering, 12V power outlet in the 3rd row, power windows, power adjustable rear view mirros and a height adjustable driver seat.

The safety features present in the Chevrolet Enjoy are ABS with EBD, dual airbags for driver and front passenger, rear parking sensors, rear defogger, rear wash-wipe system, speed-sensitive door locks, remote locking and an electronic anti-theft system.

The Chevrolet Enjoy is a purely utilitarian vehicle and it does very well in that department. The car combines a very roomy interior, flexible seating layouts and reasonably robust engines to become an appealing package. It does face very stiff competition from some very capable vehicles, but with this update, the Enjoy has a better chance of holding its ground.
