The Land Rover Discovery was launched in 1989. Discovery 4 is the third generation model. One of the strongest model from Land Rover's stable, Discovery 4 is a scintillating car designed to capture the world of SUV. Land Rover Discovery 4's Terrain Response System makes it a perfect off-roader. Popular across the world, Discovery 4 is available in the Indian market as a Completely Built Unit and this means it will also carry a heavy price tag. Tata Motors, with the launch of this premium model, desires to create a strong brand image in the Indian car market.

The hefty SUV is available in three variants in India. The SE, HSE and the SE S/R variants share the same 3.0L diesel engine and the 6-speed automatic transmission.

Powertrain & Performance

Sophisticated power and excellent driving abilities are the highlights of Discovery 4. These features reveal the SUV's capability to tackle any situation, from open roads to the steepest off-road incline. Discovery 4 is available in SE, HSE and SE S/R variants in Indian car market. It is powered by a 3.0L TDV6 diesel engine which produces maximum power of 241 bhp and torque of 600 Nm. The engine uses parallel sequential turbochargers to deliver this huge amount of power. The transmission system is a Command Shift 6-speed automatic unit which can realise the driving style of each individual and modify its behavior accordingly.

The performance is enhanced with a well tuned suspension which features four-corner independent air suspension. This is further supported by Dynamic Stability Control and Roll Stability Control units which ensure smooth and comfortable ride. Terrain Response System from Land Rover is another key feature of this large SUV. This system which is developed by Land Rover lets the vehicle take on any kind of road and in any driving conditions. The system has built-in functions to suit different types of roads like grass, sand, snow and rocky terrains.

Discovery 4 showcases the timeless tradition of Land Rover. Its aggressive, sturdy exterior design is the perfect example of the creativity of engineers. It communicates a sporty and dramatic visual appeal. Well structured lines, strong and stylish built give an impression of dynamism.
