Mahindra Reva, founded in 1994 as REVA Electric Car Company, a joint venture between the Maini Group of Bangalore and AEV LLC of USA, the company was acquired in May 2010 by the Mahindra Group of India. Mahindra Reva is a pioneer in EV (Electric Vehicle) technologies and is one of the first companies to introduce electric vehicles worldwide. In 2001, Reva Electric vehicle was launched in Bangalore and in 2004, in London. In September 2009, the company had unveiled the 4-seat REVA NXR and the 2-seat REVA NXG at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Currently, Mahindra Reva is headquartered at the Bommasandra Industrial Area in Bangalore, India, and has dispensed a huge number of electric cars in the global market.

REVAi is the latest addition of the petrol-free revolution on four wheels. This electric-powered vehicle is a perfect city car owing to its size, styling, simplicity, safety, economy and eco-friendliness. It has a turning radius of 3.5 m which makes it highly manoeuvrable. Mahindra REVAi is available in an array of seven colors which includes Angel White, Cherry Red, Passion Yellow, Silver Arrow, Blue Envy and Midnight Black.

Powertrain & Performance

Mahindra REVAi has an integrated power system charger of 22 V, 2.2 kW which requires a 15 Amp socket. The charging time is 2.5 hours for 80 percent charge and 8 hours for 100 percent charge. It can travel 80 km per charge under ideal driving condition.

The regenerative braking system in Mahindra REVAi ensures that every time you brake, the kinetic energy is converted into electricity and stored in the battery, giving additional charge, and therefore increasing the range.

Mahindra REVAi is loaded with many features. It has two on-board computers as Energy Management System (EMS) and Motor Controller enables instant vehicle analysis and prompt service, technologically advanced AC drive train, unique 'Boost' mode and hill restraint feature for steep slopes.

Build & Styling

The Mahindra REVAi is a stylish, compact hatchback. It has a scratch and dent-resistant ABS body. The interior is spacious with foldable rear seats which help in increasing the luggage space when required. High quality plastics and upholstery ensure greater durability. The iPod/Mp3 input jack is optional. The Mahindra REVAi is surprisingly spacious. The seats are placed magnificently. It has wide door opening for easy entry as well as exit and the rear children seats are easily accessible. The high seating position imparts excellent visibility.

The Mahindra REVAi consists of independent front suspension and specially tuned rear suspension which imparts confident stability and a comfortable ride.

Mahindra REVAi is loaded with many safety features which high-strength steel space frame, strong side-impact beams for added side protection, high-strength ABS dent-proof body panels to withstand impact, easy to open passenger door from the driver's seat, energy absorbing bumpers and front crumple zone for superior protection, low centre of gravity, low rolling resistance tubeless tyres, servo disc brakes and anti-submarine seats and inertia reel seat belts for driver and passenger safety.
