Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Review

Maruti Suzuki, India's number one automobile manufacturer is the market leader in the car segment both in terms of number of vehicles sold and revenue earned. Maruti occupies a noteworthy position in the Indian car market owing to its durability, longevity and reliability. The "Ertiga", Life Utility Vehicle, launched by Maruti Suzuki marks the entry of Maruti Suzuki in the Utility Vehicle segment. "Ertiga holds big significance for Maruti Suzuki in India and for Suzuki Motor Corporation for the global markets," Nakanishi had said at the Auto Expo in January 2012. The Ertiga is available in the following variants - LDi, VDi, ZDi in Diesel and LXi, VXi ABS, ZXi in Petrol. It is available in an array of seven colours that are Serene Blue, Ecru Beige, Firebrick Red, Granite Grey, Silky Silver, Superior White and Dusky Brown.

Powertrain & Performance

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga provides a choice of two engines. It is a thrilling surprise when it comes to performance. The petrol variant is loaded with 1.4L K14B VVT engine which delivers 93.7 bhp @ 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 130 Nm @ 4000 rpm whereas the diesel variant is equipped with 1.3L DDiS engine which churns out 88.7 bhp @ 4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 200 Nm @ 1750 rpm.

The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission which offers incessant shifts. It offers high cruising speeds and better highway mileage.

The suspension system of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga consists of McPherson strut and Torsion beam at the rear which imparts higher mounting rigidity and confident stability. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear.

Build & Styling

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has a perfect blend of style and substance with its bold design and magnificent body graphics that beholds the traditional appeal of an MUV. It sits on the 15-inch alloy wheels which offer robust and aggressive look to the car. The exterior comprises of stylish cluster lamps, aerodynamic styling, smart side view mirrors, in-built fog lamps and classy tail lamps. It has body coloured bumpers that impart a strong and refined statement. The spirited front grille and express power windows impart a sumptuous look.

The interior of the Ertiga is luxurious and spacious with front door trim pocket, glove box, folding assistant grip, sun visors, passenger side vanity mirror, ticket holder, remote fuel opener, spaces for easy access to items such as sunglasses, drinks and maps and also covered storage for valuables. The power assisted tilt adjustable steering wheel with integrated audio control helps in achieving an ideal driving position. The sporty dashboard, in-built music system and chrome door handles and silver trims add to the beauty of the interiors.

The Ertiga is a seven seater vehicle with height adjustable driver's seat and 2nd and 3rd row head restraints for a comfortable drive. Well insulated cabin with separate air conditioning in the rear cabin provide cool environment even in the 3rd row.

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been designed keeping the highest safety standards in mind. It is loaded with many safety features which include ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), 3-point ELR seat belt, SRS airbags and optimized strength and weight.
