Mercedes-Benz E-Class Performance Review

Powertrain & Performance

Two efficient and powerful engines with precision built within their DNAs come out to amaze customers through their commanding drives. The 2143 cc, 4-cylinder, in-line diesel engine uses common rail injection technology, piezo injectors and turbocharger to deliver a refined output. With maximum power of 201 .15 bhp @ 4200 rpm and maximum torque of 500 Nm @ 1600-1800 rpm the engine can simply let the car to cruise through roads with great command. The petrol version has a 1991 cc, 4-cylinder engine which adopts variable valve control technology to optimise consumption while turbochargers boost the power and torque delivered from the engine. The maximum power rated for this motor is 181 bhp @ 5500 rpm and the peak torque is 300 Nm @ 1200-1400 rpm. With these engines the car can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7-8 seconds.

The refined engines need more than just a simple gearbox to outperform other models in its class. The 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission couples with the engines perfectly to deliver superior performance. Shift paddle on the steering-wheel lets the driver decide on the gears whenever required. The DIRECT CONTROL suspension system is capable of altering the damping level in shock absorbers to improve drive quality irrespective of the road condition.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class Build, Styling Review

Build & Styling

Mercedes-Benz rightly amalgamates authority, dignity and charm in its E-Class to bring it out as one of the most majestic cars on road. The front bumpers with its bold edges and the 2-louvre chrome grille with the Mercedes-Benz tri-star logo shining bright on the nose induces adorable characteristic into the grand saloon. The headlamps stand out in the entire car because of the unique design of its LED while alloy wheels, windows with chrome lining and character lines uphold its dignity. At the rear, the LED tail lights and chrome trimmed exhaust mufflers give a special identity for this car.

The interior of this grand wagon had to be a lot different than other competition for a Mercedes-Benz and hence the auto marque has picked materials and equipment carefully while composing the cabin of E-Class. Be it the fabrication of leather for upholstery and other parts including steering wheel, or the inclusion of equipment like memory seats and a powerful audio system, the car no doubt floors passengers for the luxuriousness at offer. THERMOTRONIC air conditioner with different cooling zones makes the space cosier and there is a rear entertainment system with TFT screens to entertain passengers.

The opulent wagon values life more than all luxury and hence it incorporates many sophisticated equipment like airbags, ATTENTION ASSIST, ADAPTIVE BRAKE, ESP and Intelligent Light System features. All these systems work during the run and when a crash occurs to safe guard passengers in all possible ways. The Intelligent Light System is an interesting feature which works as per the requirement of different roads to give proper illumination.
