Nissan has reorganised its hatchback profile, splitting out Micra into two models. The marque seems to have realised the need for low priced small cars in India and so it has brought out a sporty and fuel efficient version of this hatchback and has named it as Micra Active. The new car also gets few modifications in its exterior and interior to look more handsome compared to its previous models. Loaded with a 1.2L engine which delivers a punchy drive, the car promises mileage of 19.49 kmpl which is an attractive number in India. Through this new car, consumers can now enjoy technological benefits, reliability and quality of Nissan brand at an attractive price tag.

There are four variants across which features and equipment of the small car are spread. The marque has emphasised much on interior comfort by spreading out most features across three higher-level variants. About 6 appealing shades are available as options for this good looking hatchback.

Powertrain & Performance

The engine of Nissan Micra Active is particularly designed for higher fuel efficiency and optimum power output when compared to the engine in premium Micra which is inclined towards higher power delivery. Most other global offerings with the name Micra or March (a name used in many other markets) have an engine which is much powerful than the unit in Micra Active. This motor is a 3-cylinder unit which is 1198 cc in capacity and has maximum power of 67.1 bhp @ 5000 rpm. Peak torque for this motor is 104 Nm @ 4000 rpm which lets the automobile accelerate quite quickly in low and mid-range speeds. The electric power steering extends driving excellence making it easier for the driver to handle this car in city traffic.

Nissan has carefully designed McPherson Strut suspension of front and Torsion Beam at rear to make the drive more comfortable, providing greater driving balance on uneven road surfaces.

Build & Styling

Nissan Micra Active is improvised to look sportier than its previous version and the marque has done this smartly to keep the price tag low. The new bumper fit in this automobile has air dam at the centre and air-vents carved at either ends. This design improves aerodynamics while the bold shaping of bumper gives the car a much confident appeal. Blackened surrounds for headlamp go well with design of bonnet and chrome front grille, charming the vehicle. Turn indicators at front and rear stand as distinguishable traits for this classy hatchback. At rear, the U shaped windscreen along with rectangular tail lamp is carried forward from the previous model to give that unique look to the car.

The earlier cousins of this hatchback were known for the design of dashboard, use of good quality materials and great comfort. However, the design of dashboard has changed in the new Micra Active which has an ergonomically engineered fascia where all control buttons and air-vents are wonderfully positioned to perform best. The seats, although are thin, are perfectly modeled for better thigh and head support while leaving a lot of room for knee. Tilt function for power steering, AC, audio system with speakers and power windows are few delightful features of the cabin. Incorporating all these features the cabin still provides a decent boot space of 251 litres adding more joy to the package.

Nissan has not let down few basic safety features while modeling this car and has included warning indication system for door ajar, key remove and unfastened seat belts. An immobiliser extends the security level in Micra Active. Driver and passenger airbags and ABS with EBD and BA are also part of the package in higher range variants.
