Overview

Hatchback segment, being one of the most competitive and trickiest segments in Indian auto market, has been a wonderful ground where global car makers have tried out everything to strike the balance between style, fuel economy, power and safety as well. The Micra from Nissan, which saw its initial launch in 2010 has carried itself as a cute car and has attracted people from different category. However, in an era where speed, aggression and luxury have taken over the lives of individuals, the cute look of Micra has not been able to match the personality of other rivals in its segment. The company has refreshed this model to change its personality and to suit the nature of young executives of modern time. Nissan has marvellously blended few important characteristics which are contemporary in the small car market, without wiping off its basic design.

With both petrol and diesel engine options, the hatchback is available in different variants. There are six colour options which are Olive Green, Brick Red, Storm White, Turquoise Blue, Onyx Black and Blade Silver which makes the automobile look livelier.

Nissan has retained the same engines which were available in previous version of the hatchback. The 1198 cc petrol motor is a 12-valve, 3-cylinder unit which is capable of delivering 75 bhp @ 6000 rpm and 76 bhp @ 6000 rpm with manual transmission and CVT respectively. Maximum torque of 104 Nm is given out @ 4000 rpm or 4400 rpm depending on the type of transmission. Diesel version is a 1461 cc engine which generates 63.1 bhp @ 4000 rpm. The diesel car is quite stable and linear in power delivery having a peak torque of 160 Nm @ 2000 rpm.

Build & Styling

The theme of the car is refreshed with most of the updates done to its exterior, making Micra look sporty. The front now has a V-shaped chrome grille placed over black honeycomb mesh. New headlamps are shaped like a boomerang, which along with chrome framed fog lamps, give a stunning look to the car. The rear spoilers through their sportiness match the attitude of front. Tail lamps and stop lamps get LED which work better than normal lights to alert vehicles approaching from behind. 15-inch alloy wheels elevate the dignity of the hatchback by adding more flavour to its new personality.

The Micra has retained basic form of its cabin from previous version while getting upgrades in materials, finishers and features. These changes have made the new cabin more lively and contemporary compared to previous model which induced homely and cosy feel through its interior.
