Indian automobile market is going through tough times amidst economic crisis. Increasing fuel prices has hit buyer sentiments which have brought down sales in the car segment. Under such circumstances companies have discovered success in SUVs by coming out with some wonderful auto-crafts which stand just above the premium hatchback segment. The French car maker Renault was one of the first to succeed in this arena. Renault’s Japanese partner Nissan is now prepared to enter into this arena with the Duster based compact SUV. Nissan has named it as Terrano and the SUV differentiates itself from the French product through its muscular design traits and wonderfully finished cabin. While industry experts speculate on whether this product will affect the sales of Duster, Nissan-Renault alliance is betting on the features and equipment that differentiate Terrano from other entry-level SUVs to position it in a slightly premium range as compared to rivals in the market.
