Overview

Skoda Fabia is a super hatch produced by Czech manufacturer Skoda Auto. The company first unveiled the car at the Geneva Auto Show, in March 2007 and sales started from April 2007. Skoda launched the second generation Fabia in India, as a 2008 model. The Skoda Fabia has been launched to give a second lease of life to the aging Fabia in the Indian small car market.

Skoda India has launched the Fabia in three engine variants - 1.2 TDI CR (Diesel) - available in Active Plus, Ambition Plus, Elegance, 1.2 MPI (Petrol) - available in Active Plus, Ambition Plus and Elegance variants and 1.6 MPI (Petrol) - available in Elegance variant. All the three engines come from the Volkswagen Polo/Vento range. While the 1.2 litre engines churn a maximum output of 75 bhp, the 1.6 litre petrol brings out a stunning 105 bhp.

The facelifted Fabia is available in a range of colours including Magic Black, Flash Red, Candy White, Brilliant Silver and Cappuccino Beige.

Powertrain & Performance

The 1.2 TDI CR Diesel of the Skoda Fabia is available in Active Plus, Ambition Plus and Elegance variants. The 1.2 TDI CR engine is one of the most fuel efficient diesel engines in the country. Featuring a Turbocharged Direct Injection Common Rail 1199 cc engine, the diesel variant of the Skoda Fabia churns out maximum power of 75 bhp @ 4200 rpm and peak torque of 180 Nm @ 2000 rpm. With its low fuel consumption, the 1.2 TDI CR Diesel is an ideal car for the high mileage user.

The 1.2 MPI Petrol of the Skoda Fabia is available in Active Plus, Ambition Plus and Elegance variants. This is a smooth and noiseless performer with enhanced output. 1198 cc 3-cylinder in-line DOHC MPI motor with liquid cooling system has been planted in the car that delivers 75 bhp @ 5400 rpm and peak torque of 110 Nm @ 3750 rpm. The smooth and peppy engine delivers quietly and economically that’s ideal for regular city driving. Its strong pulling power suits the cut and thrust urban traffic.

The 1.6 MPI Petrol of the Skoda Fabia is available in the Elegance variant only. The 1598 cc 4-cylinder DOHC in-line petrol engine with liquid cooling system offers the best performance in its class that lets you zip past the ordinary. The 1.6 MPI Petrol delivers 105 bhp @ 5250 rpm and is an absolute delight for a spirited driving experience. It delivers peak torque of 153 Nm @ 3800 rpm.

The powerful engines of all variants of the Skoda Fabia are coupled with a fully synchronised 5-speed manual transmission that ensures a better driving experience. The gear shifts are sure to be crisp and accurate.

The Skoda Fabia is an attractive and spacious small car that has been designed with robust and dynamic design cues. The superbly designed creases along the front bumper with the sharp lower outline, wider air dam and the protrusion of the front grille gives the car a sporty frontal expression. The new elongated headlamps and fog lamps stretch outwards to the sides and make the car look wider. The rear combined lights with their characteristic C-shaped translucent tail lights are typical design DNA of Skoda. The interiors of the Skoda Fabia are jazzy and feature high quality detailing with premium appointments comprising of chrome decor, onyx-ivory colour and soft-touch dashboard. It enhances the visual impression and brings a luxurious feeling every time you step inside the car. Adding a premium feel to the car is the ivory fabric upholstery of the Skoda Fabia.

The Skoda Fabia brings the premium comfort and convenience features of a luxury car in a hatch. Ample legroom and headroom space offered in the Fabia is superb. The height of the driver’s seat and the steering wheels arrangements (height and length) can be adjusted as per the driver’s convenience. The multi-function display gives the driver vital information on distance travelled, average speed, immediate fuel consumption, average fuel consumption, travel distance before refueling, service interval, outside temperature etc. The Skoda Fabia is also equipped with a Skoda Beat 2 DIN audio with four speakers.

The manually controlled air conditioners works to the optimum and keeps the inside temperature comfortable. Skoda has placed air conditioning vents at the back of front seats for the comfort of the rear seat passengers. Safety features are plenty in the Skoda Fabia. The elegant hatch is equipped with airbags to protect passengers during frontal collisions. Other safety features that make an appearance in the car are ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), EBC (Engine Braking Control) and Dual Rate Brake Assist, adjustable seat belts and child proof door and window locking that ensures high quality security for the driver and passengers.
